FLUXO
CDS members associated with the software: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gregor Gassner
FLUXO is a modern FORTRAN based simulation tool that solves non-linear systems of hyperbolic and mixed hyperbolic/parabolic partial differential equations, such as the compressible Navier-Stokes equations and the resistive Magnetohydrodynamic equations. Applications are e.g. compressible turbulence and magnetic confinement fusion.
The numerical method is based on a nodal Discontinuous Galerkin method on unstructured possible curved and non-conforming hexahedral meshes. The method is formulated in so-called split form, which enables the construction of an entropy stable discretisation as well as additional properties such as e.g. kinetic energy preservation.
The solver is fully MPI parallelized and has excellent strongly scaling on over 200 thousand MPI ranks.
FLUXO is an open source software https://github.com/project-fluxo/fluxo
