SCALEXA — Exascale Computing
With the „SCALEXA“ funding program, the BMBF supports 15 collaborative projects in the research area of scientific computing and HPC (high-performance computing). A special focus lies on the active participation of industrial partners. The different projects focus on different aspects of high-performance computing especially on future exaflop machines. The different topics are improving the scalability of software used by the industrial partners, optimizing the node-level performance of industrial codes and numerical software, improving the efficiency of hardware usage and the energy-efficiency of software in the exascale regime. Further research questions are improved load-balancing and the processing of large data on upcoming supercomputers in the exascale era.
