CDS Selected Projects

The research of Frauke Rostalski ranges from the fundamental principles of (criminal) law to the effects of the digital transformation on both society and the law. By taking into account the perspective of medicine, philosophy and law, she investigates the changes and challenges arising from the digital transformation and, in particular, artificial intelligence. Frauke Rostalski is a founding member and spokesperson of the research center for law and ethics of digital transformation (University of Cologne) and acts as a scientific director and spokesperson of the Legal Tech Lab Cologne. Furthermore, she leads a project initiated by the expert platform KI.NRW (Fraunhofer IAIS) in cooperation with the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for developing a certification standard for trustworthy and reliable use of artificial intelligence. Her publications and lectures cover “traditional” subjects from substantive criminal law to medical law and criminal procedural law as well as current issues such as initial coin offerings (ICOs), social bots and fake news.
